Avian Influenza

1. UK Reports 5 HPAI H5N1 Outbreaks in Wild Birds  

　　On October 13, the UK reported 5 outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) of the H5N1 subtype in wild birds across two regions, including England. Seven wild birds were infected and died.  

2. UK Reports 1 HPAI H5N5 Outbreak in Wild Birds  

　　On October 14, the UK reported 1 outbreak of HPAI H5N5 in wild birds in England, resulting in the death of one infected wild bird.  

3. France Reports 2 HPAI H5N1 Outbreaks in Poultry and 4 in Wild Birds  

　　On October 13, 14, and 17, France reported 2 HPAI H5N1 outbreaks in poultry and 4 in wild birds across five regions, including Pas-de-Calais in the Hauts-de-France region. A total of 133 poultry and 48 wild birds were infected and died.  

4. Austria Reports 5 HPAI H5N1 Outbreaks in Wild Birds  

　　On October 13, Austria reported 5 HPAI H5N1 outbreaks in wild birds in Carinthia, resulting in the deaths of 5 wild birds.  

5. Germany Reports 5 HPAI H5N1 Outbreaks in Poultry and 2 in Wild Birds  

　　On October 13 and 15, Germany reported 5 HPAI H5N1 outbreaks in poultry and 2 in wild birds across four regions, including Bavaria. A total of 3,449 poultry died from infection, 4,919 were culled, and 2 wild birds died.  

6. Poland Reports 3 HPAI H5N1 Outbreaks in Poultry  

　　On October 13 and 15, Poland reported 3 HPAI H5N1 outbreaks in poultry across two regions, including Greater Poland Province. A total of 42,000 poultry were infected, 12,000 died, and 98,000 were culled.  

7. Iraq Reports 1 HPAI H5N1 Outbreak in Poultry  

　　On October 14, Iraq reported 1 HPAI H5N1 outbreak in poultry in Nineveh Province, resulting in the deaths of 12,000 poultry.  

8. Portugal Reports 1 HPAI H7 Outbreak in Wild Birds  

　　On October 14, Portugal reported 1 HPAI H7 outbreak in wild birds in the Madeira Islands, resulting in the death of one infected wild bird.  

9. Lithuania Reports 1 HPAI H5N1 Outbreak in Poultry  

　　On October 14, Lithuania reported 1 HPAI H5N1 outbreak in poultry in Klaip?da County. A total of 5,381 poultry died from infection, and 15,000 were culled.  

10. Denmark Reports 2 HPAI H5N1 Outbreaks in Wild Birds  

　　On October 14, Denmark reported 2 HPAI H5N1 outbreaks in wild birds across two regions, including Fredericia Municipality. Seven wild birds were infected and died.  

11. Spain Reports 8 HPAI H5N1 Outbreaks in Wild Birds and 3 in Poultry  

　　On October 14, 15, and 17, Spain reported 8 HPAI H5N1 outbreaks in wild birds and 3 in poultry across three regions, including the Valencian Community. A total of 17 wild birds and 1,578 poultry died from infection, and 112,000 poultry were culled.  

12. Latvia Reports 2 HPAI H5N1 Outbreaks in Wild Birds  

　　On October 15, Latvia reported 2 HPAI H5N1 outbreaks in wild birds in Zemgale Municipality, resulting in the deaths of 2 wild birds.  

13. Bulgaria Reports 2 HPAI H5N1 Outbreaks in Poultry  

　　On October 15 and 17, Bulgaria reported 2 HPAI H5N1 outbreaks in poultry in Plovdiv Province, resulting in the deaths of 1,130 poultry.  

14. North Macedonia Reports 1 HPAI H5N1 Outbreak in Wild Birds  

　　On October 15, North Macedonia reported 1 HPAI H5N1 outbreak in wild birds in Karpo? District. Two wild birds were infected, one died, and one was culled.  

15. Italy Reports 2 HPAI H5N1 Outbreaks in Wild Birds and 2 in Poultry  

　　On October 16 and 17, Italy reported 2 HPAI H5N1 outbreaks in wild birds and 2 in poultry across two regions, including Friuli-Venezia Giulia. Three wild birds died from infection, 55 poultry died, and 19,000 were culled.  

16. South Africa Reports 1 HPAI H5N1 Outbreak in Poultry  

　　On October 16, South Africa reported 1 HPAI H5N1 outbreak in poultry in the Western Cape Province, resulting in the deaths of 5,331 poultry.  

17. Ireland Reports 1 HPAI H5N1 Outbreak in Wild Birds  

　　On October 16, Ireland reported 1 HPAI H5N1 outbreak in wild birds in County Cork. Four wild birds were infected, three died, and one was culled.  

18. Japan Reports 13 HPAI H5 and 1 HPAI H5N1 Outbreaks in Wild Birds  

　　On October 17, Japan reported 13 HPAI H5 and 1 HPAI H5N1 outbreak in wild birds in Hokkaido. Sixteen wild birds were infected and died.  

19. Canada Reports 3 HPAI H5N1 Outbreaks in Poultry and 2 in Wild Birds  

　　On October 17, Canada reported 3 HPAI H5N1 outbreaks in poultry and 2 in wild birds across four regions, including Ontario. Multiple poultry died from infection, 9 free-range poultry died, and 10 were culled.  

20. Sweden Reports 1 HPAI H5N1 Outbreak in Wild Birds  

　　On October 17, Sweden reported 1 HPAI H5N1 outbreak in wild birds in Sk?ne County. Twenty free-range poultry were infected, 9 died, and 11 were culled.  

Other Animal Diseases

1.Poland Reports 1 Newcastle Disease Outbreak  

　　On October 15, Poland reported 1 Newcastle disease outbreak in Masovian Province. A total of 148,000 poultry were infected, and 2,500 died.
