2. Japan reports 1 case in poultry and 24 cases in wild birds of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza

    On December 1 and 2, Japan reported 1 case in poultry and 24 cases in wild birds across 4 prefectures including Miyazaki. A total of 70 poultry were infected and died, 956,000 were culled, and 29 wild birds were infected and died.

3. Iraq reports 1 case in poultry of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza

    On December 1, Iraq reported 1 case in poultry in Al Anbar Governorate. A total of 400 poultry were infected, with 170 deaths and 5 culled.

4. The Netherlands reports 11 cases in poultry of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza

    On December 1 and 5, the Netherlands reported 11 cases in poultry across 6 provinces including Flevoland. A total of 1,615 poultry were infected, with 416 deaths and 434,000 culled.

5. Austria reports 8 cases in wild birds of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza

    On December 1, 3, and 5, Austria reported 8 cases in wild birds across 2 states including Lower Austria. A total of 34 wild birds were infected, with 9 deaths.

    On December 4, Switzerland reported 1 case in wild birds in the canton of Fribourg. A total of 1 wild bird was infected and died.

    On December 4, Belgium reported 50 cases in wild birds in the Flemish Region. A total of 61 wild birds/free-range poultry were infected and died, with 11 culled.
