Avian Influenza

 

1. United States reports 15 cases in wild birds and 3 cases in poultry of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza

    On December 8 and 12, the United States reported 15 cases in wild birds and 3 cases in poultry across 6 locations including Michigan. A total of 252 wild birds/free-range poultry were infected and died, 210 were culled, and multiple poultry were infected and died, with 37,000 culled.

 

2. Canada reports 5 cases in wild birds and 14 cases in poultry of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza

    On December 8 and 12, Canada reported 5 cases in wild birds and 14 cases in poultry across 5 regions including British Columbia. A total of 180 wild birds/free-range poultry were infected, with 178 deaths and 229 culled, and 25,000 poultry were infected and died, with 446,000 culled.

 

3. United Kingdom reports 25 cases in wild birds and 9 cases in poultry of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza

    On December 8 and 12, the United Kingdom reported 25 cases in wild birds and 9 cases in poultry across 2 regions including England. A total of 32 wild birds were infected and died, and 14,000 poultry were infected, with 2,056 deaths and 342 culled.

 

4. France reports 5 cases in poultry of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza

    On December 8 and 11, France reported 5 cases in poultry across 4 departments including Vendée, Pays de la Loire. A total of 3,960 poultry were infected and died.

 

5. Germany reports 7 cases in poultry of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza

    On December 8 and 11, Germany reported 7 cases in poultry across 5 states including North Rhine-Westphalia. A total of 3,839 poultry were infected, with 3,140 deaths and 177,000 culled.

 

6. Lithuania reports 1 case in poultry of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza

    On December 8, Lithuania reported 1 case in poultry in Marijampol? County. A total of 88 poultry were infected and died, with 25,000 culled.

    On December 8 and 11, Hungary reported 2 cases in wild birds in Komárom-Esztergom County. A total of 3 wild birds were infected and died.

 

12. Luxembourg reports 2 cases in wild birds of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza

    On December 8, Luxembourg reported 2 cases in wild birds across 2 districts including Luxembourg District. A total of 2 wild birds were infected and died.

 

13. Netherlands reports 85 cases in wild birds and 2 cases in poultry of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza

    On December 8, 9, and 12, the Netherlands reported 85 cases in wild birds and 2 cases in poultry across 7 provinces including Friesland. A total of 339 wild birds/free-range poultry were infected, with 120 deaths and 299 culled, and 65 poultry were infected, with 50 deaths and 94,000 culled.

 

14. Denmark reports 1 case in poultry and 10 cases in wild birds of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza

    On December 9 and 12, Denmark reported 1 case in poultry and 10 cases in wild birds across 6 municipalities including Mariagerfjord. Multiple poultry and 12 wild birds were infected and died.

 

15. South Korea reports 7 cases of highly pathogenic H5N1, 1 case of H5N6, and 1 case of H5N9 avian influenza in wild birds

    On December 8 and 9, South Korea reported 7 cases of H5N1, 1 case of H5N6, and 1 case of H5N9 avian influenza in wild birds across 5 locations including Gyeonggi Province. A total of 9 wild birds were infected and died.

 

16. Italy reports 7 cases in wild birds and 4 cases in poultry of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza

    On December 9 and 12, Italy reported 7 cases in wild birds and 4 cases in poultry across 3 regions including Lombardy. A total of 7 wild birds were infected and died, and 86,000 poultry were infected, with 1,733 deaths and 141,000 culled.

 

17. Japan reports 1 case in poultry of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza

    On December 9, Japan reported 1 case in poultry in Tottori Prefecture. A total of 700 poultry were infected and died, with 75,000 culled.

 

18. Czechia reports 4 cases in wild birds of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza

    On December 9, 10, and 12, Czechia reported 4 cases in wild birds across 3 regions including Vyso?ina. A total of 19 wild birds/free-range poultry were infected, with 17 deaths and 13 culled.

 

19. Poland reports 4 cases in wild birds and 3 cases in poultry of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza

    On December 10, Poland reported 4 cases in wild birds and 3 cases in poultry across 6 voivodeships including Greater Poland. A total of 5 wild birds were infected and died, and 93,000 poultry were infected, with 1,831 deaths.

 

20. Portugal reports 3 cases in poultry of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza

    From December 10 to 12, Portugal reported 3 cases in poultry across 2 districts including the Lisbon Metropolitan Area. A total of 2,526 poultry were infected, with 213 deaths and 83,000 culled.

 

21. Kazakhstan reports 1 case in wild birds of highly pathogenic H5 avian influenza

    On December 10, Kazakhstan reported 1 case in wild birds in Akmola Region. A total of 1 wild bird was infected and died, with 2 culled.

 

22. Estonia reports 3 cases in wild birds of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza

    From December 10 to 11, Estonia reported 3 cases in wild birds across 2 counties including Harju County. A total of 8 wild birds/free-range poultry were infected and died.

    On December 11, Finland reported 1 case in wild birds in Western Finland Province. A total of 5 wild birds were infected and died.

    On December 12, Canada reported 1 case in wild birds of highly pathogenic H5N5 avian influenza in Saskatchewan. A total of 3 wild birds were infected and died.

    On December 12, Nigeria reported 1 case in poultry in Ogun State. A total of 6,200 poultry were infected and died, with 300 culled.

    On December 12, Spain reported 6 cases in wild birds across 2 autonomous communities including Madrid. A total of 604 wild birds were infected and died.

1.  Kazakhstan reports 6 cases of rabies

    On December 9 and 11, Kazakhstan reported 6 cases of rabies across 3 regions including Zhambyl Region. A total of 4 domestic dogs and 1 domestic cat were infected and died, and 1 wild red fox was infected and culled.

 

2.  Poland reports 3 cases of Newcastle disease

    On December 10, Poland reported 3 cases of Newcastle disease in Greater Poland Voivodeship. A total of 86,000 poultry were infected, with 345 deaths and 5,970 culled.
